What is building in Mount Waverley, Glen Waverley and Knox like?

Monash and Knox are established suburbs, with many homes built from the 1950s to the 1980s on generous blocks. Plenty of those homes are now at the end of their life, which is why knockdown rebuilds and side-by-side homes are common around Mount Waverley, Glen Waverley and Rowville.

Planning applications here go to the Cities of Monash and Knox (monash.vic.gov.au); the building permit comes from a registered building surveyor.

What can Oakview build in Mount Waverley, Glen Waverley and Knox?

  • Knockdown rebuilds on the larger established blocks of Mount Waverley and Glen Waverley.
  • Custom single-storey homes in Rowville, Ferntree Gully and Bayswater.
  • Double storey homes and side-by-sides: coming soon.

Knocking down in Monash or Knox?

  • Homes built before the 1990s can contain asbestos, which a licensed removalist takes out before demolition.
  • Planning overlays (heritage, vegetation, flooding) are on your property report from VicPlan; send us the address and we will look.
  • Two or more homes on one lot need a planning permit from the council.
  • A soil test and a feature and level survey set the slab design and show site costs early.

Where else nearby do we build?

Further south we also build in Dandenong and Keysborough and Frankston and Seaford; for a new home on an estate lot, see Cranbourne and Clyde North. In Knox, planning applications go to the City of Knox (knox.vic.gov.au).

How do you start?

  1. Send us the address: we look at the block, the title and the planning overlays.
  2. We plan the demolition and the new home together, and quote both.
  3. Once you sign, the permits are applied for: demolition, building and planning if needed.
  4. The old house comes down, then the new one goes up stage by stage to handover.
