What is a side-by-side build?
Two homes built next to each other on one block, usually sharing a wall or standing close together, each facing the street with its own driveway and garage. It suits wider blocks in established suburbs, for families living next door to each other, or to keep one home and sell or rent the other.
Is my block suitable?
- Width: each home needs its own frontage, driveway and garage.
- Zoning and council rules: two homes on one lot need a planning permit in Victoria.
- Overlays such as heritage, vegetation or flooding: check them on VicPlan, or send us the address.
- Services: water, sewer, power and gas connections for two homes.
How will Oakview build it?
Demolition first if there is a house on the block, then both homes through the five stages of a Victorian building contract, with the finishes you choose for each.
What will it cost?
We quote each side-by-side on the block, the permit and the two designs. Our rough cost guide gives a first idea per home, including GST.
